COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

LM Tech Hub is working with Awka Union USA/Canada on their 2023 – 2024 Youth Empowerment Program. The program provides scholarships and skills acquisition training for the youths in Awka.
LM Tech Hub received 7 beneficiaries of the program, who are now participants of Cohort 3 boot camp. They are being trained to become Data Analysts, Product Designers and Web Developers
After 3 months, the students would have acquired the necessary entry-level qualifications to seek employment in the technology industry as an apprentice or work as a freelancer. In addition to the scholarship, each student was given a free laptop and monthly stipend to help with transportation for the duration of the program.

Over 200 Youths Benefit From Awka Union USA, Canada’s Scholarship, Skill Acquisition Programme

In order to stem the tide of youth restiveness and other social vices in Awka and environs, an association of Awka indigenes in United States of America and Canada known as “Awka Union USA and Canada” has awarded scholarships to the students of community and also commenced skill acquisition training for others.
At the flag-off ceremony held at Ndichie Hall, Umudioka village, Awka, beneficiaries from the 33 villages that make up Awka community were in attendance.
In a keynote address during the ceremony, the President General of the association, Dr Anayo Nwobum said the essence of the programme was to keep the youths of the community productively engaged in addition to making them to go back to school.
According to Dr. Nwobum, education is the key to the future, as it opens the horizon for unlimited possiblities.
Dr. Nwobum disclosed that those who benefitted from its skills acquisition programme will be given start up capital and will be monitored to ensure that they are living up to expectations.
Contributing, a member of the Union, Mr. Dilim Iloanya charged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the community, reminding them of the need to embrace education as the union is committed to supporting them.
A one time President General of the association, Chief Ken Chinweze commended the efforts of the group towards empowering the youths, saying that a community that fails to empower its youths will never progress.
Some of the mentors in the acquisition programme, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Chidekwe who specializes in paint production and Mr. Uche Chinwuba who is into furniture making advised the beneficiaries not to take the opportunity given to them for granted but to be diligent and maximize the opportunity.
The Youth leader of Awka, Mr Ikechukwu Ezenwa described the move by Awka Union in the United States and Canada as a welcome development and reassured the union that the new leadership of Awka youths is poised to bring sanity to the community.
Some beneficiaries of the scholarship, Miss Chidiebele Okechukwu, a student of Radiography at University of Benin and Mr. Kenechukwu Anagor, a Medicine and Surgery student at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, appreciated the association for the gesture, noting that they would not take it for granted.
Some parents of the beneficiaries in the gesture including, Mr. Okwuchukwu Aniche and Mr. Samuel Ngene appreciated the association and expressed hope that the programme will make a difference in Awka community while also promising that they would help monitor their wards to ensure proper utilization of the gesture.
